Dr. Horikoshi was graduated from School of Medicine, Showa University, Japan in 2001. He was trained for Pediatrics at Okinawa Chubu Hospital, Showa University Hospital and National Center for Child Health and Development, Japan. He served at Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia. He was clinical fellow at Division of Infectious Diseases, The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, Canada between 2008 and 2010. He has funded Division of Infectious Diseases, Tokyo Metropolitan Children’s Medical Center in 2010. He had served as division chief for 9 years for clinical care, infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP), microbiology, research and education. He also had provided care for underserved children in Kenya. He moved to Nigeria, World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019 for polio eradication. He was deployed to Malaysia, WHO in 2020 for vaccine-derived polio and COVID-19 responses. He moved back to the current post in 2021. His research interests are Antimicrobial Resistance, Global Health and Vaccines.
