Her research interest focuses on improving survival of extremely preterm infants at the verge of
viability and the translational bench to bedside stem cell research to treat neonatal intractable
diseases such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia, severe intraventricular hemorrhage, and hypoxic
ischemic encephalopathy. She has published over 280 papers including 166 in international peer
review journals and has invented over 30 patents.
She received many awards including Commendation of Prime Minister from Ministry of the
Interior and Safety and Commendation of Minister of Health and Welfare 2020 in Korea in honor of
her contributions to the field of health research including neonatology and stem cells and
