Jan Lebl is a paediatric endocrinologist at Department of Paediatrics, 2^nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.

He was trained in paediatric endocrinology by Professors Herwig Frisch in Vienna, Austria and Jeremy Winter in Edmonton, Canada. He gained his PhD on diagnostic procedures in children with short stature and became professor of paediatrics with inaugural lecture on transcriptional regulation of endocrine system. His current research is focused on molecular aspects of beta-cell disorders, and genetics of short stature. He published over 250 original articles and lectured in over 40 countries worldwide. He was a teacher at numerous Winter Schools of European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), and served as secretary of the ESPE Clinical Fellowship committee from 2002 to 2011. In 2009-2010, he was the ESPE president and organised the 49^th ESPE Annual Meeting in Prague in 2010. Since 2010 to 2016, he was ESPE council member with responsibility for education and training. He initiated some novel ESPE teaching activities – ESPE Caucasus and Central Asia School, ASPED/ESPE School in collaboration with Arabic Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes and Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism (DOM) School. Since 2021, he serves as ESPE convenor for the sub-Saharan Africa training centres in paediatric endocrinology.
