Dr. William E. Reichman is President and Chief Executive Officer of Baycrest, among the world’s premier academic health care organizations focused on seniors’ health and residential care and aging brain function.
Dr. Reichman has an appointment as Professor of Psychiatry on the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and is a recipient of an honorary degree of laws from OCAD University. He is a noted global authority on the delivery of innovative medical, mental health and dementia services in geriatric care settings.
Dr. Reichman is a former President of the International Psychogeriatric Association, the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, and the Geriatric Mental Health Foundation. He has been a special consultant to the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice on dementia and mental health-care delivery within nursing homes and has advised the WHO and the governments of Canada and China on health policy. He served as the weekly Senior Health columnist for the Star Ledger, New Jersey’s highest circulation newspaper and has been widely interviewed and quoted by all of the major media outlets in the United States and Canada. Recently, he also served as Co-Chair of Canada’s Ministerial Advisory Board on Dementia and was instrumental in the development of Canada’s National Dementia Strategy.
