Martin Phillips is a Respiratory Physician at Macquarie University Hospital and Hon Clinical Professor at Macquarie University. He recently re-located from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, a tertiary Teaching Hospital in Perth, where he had been the Director of the Lung Cancer Service and Interventional Pulmonology, and previously HOD. He is also a Clinical Professor at the University of Western Australia and ran a number of Courses in Interventional Pulmonology at CTEC, the Surgical Skills Centre. 

His Interventional Pulmonology interests include EBUS (linear and radial) for the diagnosis of mediastinal and peripheral lung lesions; Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy; lung volume reduction techniques for emphysema; bronchial thermoplasty for severe asthma; cryobiopsy for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes; laser and other ablative procedures for endobronchial tumours; airway stent insertion for benign and malignant airway stenoses, brachytherapy; and medical thoracoscopy.

His research interests include asthma, COPD and emphysema, ILD, lung cancer and interventional pulmonology.
