On behalf of the SEC President, Academic Committee Chair and the Local Organizing Committee, it is our absolute pleasure to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to the 17th China Southern Endovascular Conference (SEC Annual Meeting 2024) taking place on 18-21 July in Guangzhou, China!

The SEC of this year is jointly organized by the Vascular Surgery Research Center of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong Health Management Association, National Cardiovascular Disease Expert Committee Vascular Surgery Professional Committee, and the Vascular Surgery Branch (Group) of the Medical Association in eleven southern provinces. It is an international event co-hosted by The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and the editorial department of "Chinese Journal of Vascular Surgery". Since its establishment in 2006, the SEC has successfully held sixteen sessions. After years of exploration and summarization, it has established a mission to strive for higher quality and excellence. Its excellent academic reputation attracts thousands of professionals engaged in vascular disease prevention and treatment from around the world to participate in this grand event every year. The 14th SEC in 2020 attracted more than 4,300 participants, while even with the impact of the pandemic on SEC's 15th session in 2022, there were still over 2,500 offline attendees and online participation reached up to 830 thousand person-times. The upcoming16th SEC in 2023 set a new record with over 4,700 offline participants. As one of China's largest and most influential conferences in vascular disease field，the SEC continues to lead rapid development within Chinese vascular disease industry.

The 17th SEC (SEC2024) will set up 8 sub-venues simultaneously, integrating multiple forums, including the 12th PAD High-end Salon, the 8th Chinese Young Physicians Case Competition, the 6th Chinese Vascular Surgery Young Physicians Clinical Skills Competition, the 7th Sino-Japanese Vascular Surgery Exchange Forum, the 2nd Vascular and Metabolism Research Forum, VEITH@SEC. The conference will invite numerous experts and scholars from home and abroad to conduct extensive and in-depth discussions on current global vascular disease hot topics. The scope covers clinical diagnosis and treatment, evidence-based medicine, hot spot focus areas, medical innovation and transformation, application of new theories and technologies, complications prevention and vascular disease care. It will also showcase surgical recordings of 100 classic and complex cases. Adhering to the principle of "higher quality with more precision," the SEC will continue to make greater contributions to improving the overall academic level of vascular disease prevention and treatment in our country.

As one of the starting points of the ancient "Maritime Silk Road" in China, Guangzhou has always been a place where Chinese and foreign cultures blend and the birthplace of Cantonese culture. Guangzhou, also known as Ram City, Rice-Ear City and Flower City, is the "southern gateway" connecting our country to the world. It is a national central city and also a political, economic, cultural, and technological center in Central-South China and South China. It is the central city of the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao and the core city of Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Zone as well as a hub city for "Belt and Road".
