Peifu Tang, Ph.D., is the director of the Senior Department of Orthopedics at the General Hospital of People's Liberation Army (PLA), and the director of the National Clinical Research Center for Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Tang is the member of the Expert Group of the Central Health Commission, chairman of the Traumatology Branch of Chinese Medical Association, chairman of the Orthopedics Branch of Building and Continuing Education Center of the National Health Commission, chairman of the Orthopedics Special Committee of Chinese PLA, chairman of the Orthopedics Branch of Beijing Medical Association, and committee member of the Discipline Assessment Group of Academic Degrees Committee of The State Council. He is mainly engaged in the treatment of severe war trauma and limb function reconstruction, intelligent reduction and minimally invasive treatment of complex fractures, intelligent orthopedic robots and surgical system development, and basic research and clinical prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures. Dr. Tang has undertaken 31 national projects, including National High-tech R&D Program, Key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and major projects of the Chinese PLA. He has published more than 300 papers as the first or corresponding author in journals such as The BMJ, Ann Intern Med, Adv Mater, Nat Commun, etc. He has won the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award once, the second prize of the National Teaching Award once, first prizes of provincial and ministerial-level science and technology progress three times, and the first prize of the military-level teaching achievement once. He has also received the He Liang He Li Award, the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award, the Wu Yang Award, and the Outstanding Professional and Technical Personnel Award of the military. He has been granted 9 international patents and 60 national invention patents, and has obtained 8 national product registration certificates for the transformation of achievements. He has edited 9 monographs in Chinese and English, and has presided over the formulation of 27 guidelines and standards. He has been awarded the first-class merit by the Central Military Commission once.
